Meet the Teachers

Lou Kidd

Kia ora whānau,

I'm Lou and this is my fourth year teaching at Marshland School. This year I am teaching year three, and I will be Acting Team Leader, while George Matheson is on maternity leave.

This is my third year teaching junior children, and I have a real love for this level of learning. I am particularly passionate about teaching maths, literacy, science and te reo Māori.

I have two children who attend Marshland School and are currently in Korimako and Toroa. I am originally from England, but have been living in beautiful New Zealand for 13 years now.

Terry van der Schaaf

Kia ora,

I’m Terry and this will be my first year teaching at Marshland School, previously I was teaching at Redwood Primary School and have taught from year 2 through to year 6.

I enjoy teaching maths and music and am keen to see technology used to enhance learning in the classroom.

I have lived in New Zealand for 10 years, after moving from Australia, and enjoy getting outdoors, with my wife and two daughters.

Matt Boyce

Matthew has been teaching within the junior area of Marshland School for the last 2 years. This year he will be teaching the Year 2s alongside Kellie Sim and Victoria Miles. He has a passion for teaching literacy, drama and visual art.

Kellie Sim

My name is Kellie Sim and I have been teaching for 15 years. I have two children who attend Marshland school and a husband who is also in education. I have worked at Marshland School for 6 years doing release teaching and just recently a job share position. I am passionate about teaching and preparing our children for their future. I look forward to meeting you all and working with you this year.

Vic Miles

Kia ora,

I'm Vic and this is my second year teaching at Marshland School. I have had almost 8 years of teaching in the junior school and have a real passion for teaching this level. I really enjoy teaching literacy, P.E and numeracy.

This year I will continue working Thursday and Friday, job sharing with Kellie Sim.

I am a mother to a busy wee boy who is almost 2. I enjoy reading and spending time with friends in my spare time.

Jill Epps

Kia ora,

My name is Jill and I am a Teacher Aide within the Pukeko Hub.

I started as a parent volunteer for Marshland School 13 years ago when the first of my two boys started school. During that time I discovered my love for working with children at this level. I have one boy at high school and another at university, but I have remained in the junior school where I have worked as a Teacher Aide for five years now.

For me it is a privilege (and a lot of fun) supporting the learning and wellbeing of your tamariki within our school and to be part of a team with such hard working and dedicated teachers.
