Kia ora, haere mai, and welcome to the PUKEKO HUB Blog.
This blog has been designed so we can share your child’s learning with you, and your extended whānau. You will also find all up-to-date news and notices for your information. Lou, Matt, Kellie, Vic, Terry, and Jill.
Today our tamariki went to enjoy their healthy lunches in the Korimako hub. The year 5/6 tamariki in Miss Burtenshaw's home group did a fantastic job of making and delivering the kai. Our Pukeko tamariki loved it!
Our tamariki have been learning pre-algebra in maths for the last couple of weeks. Today, the Pukeko Matheson maths group shared their patterns with the Pukeko Kidd maths group, and challenged them to complete them.
This is a reminder that we are having a shared lunch on Thursday this week and you are invited to join us! This is to celebrate our learning about Healthy Eating this term.
We kindly ask for your support in this celebration of healthy eating by bringing in or sending to school a healthy lunch option that your child can share with others in the hub. For example, cheese and onion muffins, fruit kebabs or vegetables sticks with a healthy dip. We recommend that you only make enough to fill a normal sized dinner plate. Teachers will be providing a healthy smoothie option for the children.
The foods we have been learning about include spinach, onion, salmon, mushrooms, oranges, cauliflower, carrots and rice. It would be wonderful if you could incorporate one of these into your food but it is not compulsory.
We will eat inside the Pukeko Hub from 12:30 -1:00pm within our home groups and share the food that everyone has made. We recommend that you also send lunch to school with your child in their lunch box in case they do not want to eat the food provided.
Thank you in advance for your time and effort and we will see you on Thursday if possible!
This week was our last session on Healthy Eating for the term. The children learnt all about rice and got to try some with soy sauce, which they loved! Don't forget we have our shared lunch next Thursday 28th September to celebrate our learning. We kindly ask each child to bring a plate of healthy food that they can share with their peers.
Kia ora whānau, This year Marshland School will be entering teams into the Belfast Touch Competition for 2017-18. Notices went home last week. If you didn't receive one and would like your child to play touch, please see your home group teachers for one. The forms need to be returned by Friday 15th September.
We have had such a fun afternoon today! We learnt all about kāroti
(carrot) and tried eating carrot sticks with hummus. This was a huge success and even the hummus went down well. A huge well done to Peyton and Brodie from Mrs M's home group, who were both hesitant to try our food but gave it a go! Karawhiua!
