Today children from Pukeko Drury and Pukeko Mottram worked together to create narratives. The task was to select two characters, describe a setting and include a problem in their story. The children worked together incredibly well, giving each other ideas, helping with spelling and punctuation. They took turns writing a sentence each which was a lot of fun. Finally the children had to check their writing had everything a great job has, such as describing words, similes, and punctuation.

Kia ora Whanau,
Gosh - only 4 weeks to go until our school Fun Run (Friday 18th November). Many thanks to those of you who are supporting your child through this process. We hope to generate enough funds to go towards a Fitness Trail and a Friendship seat. There are fabulous prizes up for grabs and these can be viewed in the Sponsorship Form booklet. We encourage all children to take part in this event with the emphasis on fun and participation. We will also cater to those choosing the competitive aspect of the run.
There are two ways to collect sponsorship.
- We currently have 46 families who have opted for this easy option. Students raise an average of $103.38 using online fundraising and the best part is that you don’t have to handle the money.
- Sign up for a Student Profile Page at http://www.schoolfunrun.co.nz/Fundraising_students_signup
- Collect donations from your sponsors and fill in the form inside the back page (We have some spares at the office).
⇦IMPORTANT - You must return this page back to school to claim your prize regardless of whether you collect your sponsorship manually or digitally.
Please contact Fiona Barker on firstname.lastname@example.org or come along to the next SCG meeting held in the staff room on Wednesday 2nd November. Would be great to see some new faces there!
Thanks for your support on this!

Here are some photos I took on Thursday of focused learners during Reading Time. It has been amazing to see the children slot back into routine this week. We have some incredible role models among us.
This term we have introduced Read to Self as a part of our Reading Programme.
Read to Self is about learning how to:
- Choose a book that interests them
- Choose a spot to learn in
- Maintain focus
- Build their reading stamina
This is a "Must Do" activity alongside working on their workbooks, buddy testing on sight words and reading eBooks.
